If you are planning to go trekking in Zanskar, click here for guide recommendations. And maybe you also want to check out my link collection on trekking in the Himalayas.

The trek starts from Darcha. Next stop is 2 nights at Zanskar Sumdo for acclimatization. Then the Shingo La, a 5000+ m pass is crossed. And from here, it's all downhill to Purne, from where Phuktal Gompa is just a few stonethrows away.

Next, proceedign towards Padum, and reaching the town itself (som more of Padum, and an authentic kidnapping!). There is plenty to look at around Padum, such as for instance the Stagrimo Gompa, and walking to Dzongkul Gompa takes about half a day.

The next part of the trek is across the Western Zanskar, passing Pidmo, Lingshed, and reaching Lamayuru at the Leh-Kargil highway.

Some days spent in Leh; streetscenes, prayermeetings and the Mosque.

Finally, here are some good friends I met. Some of them also excellent guides/horsemen/cooks!
