The following entries describes chronologically the itineary
from Darcha - Lamayuru - Stok Kangri / Leh

If you are planning to go trekking in Zanskar, click here for guide recommendations.

The trek starts from Darcha, next stop is 2 nights at Zanskar Sumdo to acclimatize right.
 Then the
Shingo La, a 5000+ m pass, is crossed. And from here, it's all downhill to Purne,
from where
Phuktal Gompa is just a few stonethrows away.
proceeding towards Padum and reaching the town itself
(some more of Padum and an authentic kidnapping).
There is plenty to look at around Padum, such as for instance Stagrimo gompa.
Walking to Dzongkul gompa is about a half days walk. The next part of the trek is across the western Zanskar, passing PidmoLingshed and reaching Lamayuru at the Leh-Kargil highway. Some days spent in Leh; streetscenes, prayermeetings and the Mosque, finally
climbing Stok Kangri. Here are some good friends I met.
